Booka Brass Band - the Irish sound of New Orleans

THE ONLY New Orleans style brass band in Ireland - the Booka Brass Band - are coming to play the Róisín Dubh as part of this summer’s Galway International Arts Festival.

With the Hot 8 Brass Band having to cancel their festival show, there is ever more reason to get along to see the Irish septet deliver some serious jazz in the Róisín this Saturday at 8pm.

The line-up consists of two trumpeters, two trombonists, a saxophonist, a sousaphonist, and a drummer. Classically trained, the band also bring a great understanding of classical harmony which can be heard behind the beats of their original music.

The Booka Brass Band are currently recording their debut EP. They have also played the Electric Picnic, Sea Sessions, and Longitude, and supported the Hot 8 Brass Band and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

Tickets are available through www.giaf.com and www.roisindubh.net
