Three Galway girls will battle it out for the coveted title of Miss Ireland at the finals of the competition this Saturday July 19 at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin.
Miss Sunday World title holder and Galway girl Laura Fox from Moylough, launched her modeling career after winning the Miss Galway title in 2013, before going on to place seventh in last year’s Miss Ireland competition. In preparation for the Miss Ireland competition Ms Fox recently joined the team at Monroe’s Live as host and party co-ordinator.
Miss Galway 2014, Leah Tiernan, will compete in the Miss Ireland final, representing Galway city and county, and her official sponsor The Stock Exchange Bar, while her dress will be sponsored by Harper Boutique. A Knocknacarra native, Tiernan is a fashion graduate from the Galway Technical Institute, currently working at the Pia fashion and accessory store in Middle Street.
Ruth McCourt is Miss GMIT this year, and just a week ago was awarded the title of Miss Roscommon. Originally from Roscommon town, Ms McCourt is an honours graduate from GMIT who studied a Bachelor of Business in Marketing. She is currently working part-time as a sales advisor for River Island in Galway. She hopes to pursue a career in the beauty or fashion industry, and has been modelling for the past few years, taking part in competitions such as Diva Next Door, holding the title of Miss An Post Ras Roscommon, and also competing in this year’s Miss Galway. McCourt wishes to thank River Island Galway and the GMIT Student Union for all the support.
Running for its 67th year, the Miss Ireland competition has produced top models such as Rosanna Davison and Olivia Treacy.
