A “united effort from all parties” is the only means by which the traffic problems plaguing Oranmore will be solved before the schools re-open in September.
This is the view of Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish, who said the members of the Athenry Oranmore Municipal Area District “have a key role to play in resolving the outstanding issues”.
Dep Grealish said there will be some 2,200 children “descending on the centre of the village each day” come the new school term, with the new Gaelscoil de hÍde opening, alongside Calasanctius College and the national schools.
He is now calling for the various schools in the area “to stagger opening times to help alleviate some of the congestion”. He is also calling for “a proper traffic management plan in place for Oranmore”, and that the Municipal Area District “have a major role to play in this”.
