Caragh Precision has opened a new 40,000 sq ft manufacturing facility at Parkmore West in Galway.
The company which offers engineering solutions to companies seeking high standards and specialist technical knowledge, has developed into one of the most respected partners in the precision engineering industry.
It is recognised as a top tier manufacturer of engineering components and solutions in the medical devices and aerospace sectors.
The new facility will enable Caragh to produce more innovative and advanced products for the rapidly expanding medical device sector and will increase both the export and employment potential of the company. Caragh currently employs circa 95 highly skilled people.
Officially opening the new facility, Minister Éamon Ó Cuív, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs said Caragh Precision’s new facility is excellent news for the company, its employees, and the Galway region.
“This positive investment in a state of the art new facility demonstrates the company’s commitment and confidence in the future of high level manufacturing in Ireland. Investments like this illustrate the potential for innovative Irish companies, in all regions, to compete globally by anticipating and responding to international market opportunities".
Commenting on his company’s strategy for the future, Edward Kenny MD Caragh Precision said there are three key elements to the success – productivity, investment and innovation.
“We are a knowledge-based business and over the years we have built up expertise in productive manufacturing and can adapt quickly to changing circumstances. To be successful, technical know-how then has to be underpinned by a willingness to invest in the most effective leading edge technology”.
“Today’s customer, whether in medical device, life sciences or aerospace sectors, demands much more than simply the capacity to make things. It is essential that we bring new ideas, methods and knowledge of raw materials to bear when solving process and/or design problems for our customers. Our new facility includes an Innovation Centre which focuses our expertise on finding improved and new solutions to their problems which was encouraged and supported by Enterprise Ireland”, he added.
Commenting on the importance of Caragh Precision to Galway, Seamus Bree, Regional Director at Enterprise Ireland said the company has invested significantly in R&D to build a highly innovative and competitive manufacturing company.
“It is an excellent example of how innovation and R&D investment, combined with strong management and leadership can create a competitive and sustainable manufacturing company in Ireland. Manufacturing product for knowledge-intensive and advancing technology sectors represents markets in which Irish companies can continue to compete and win global business.”
