SugarBeat Music festival in August

GALWAY, AND Ireland’s, latest outdoor music festival SugarBeat, takes place in Tuam in August, with singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey headlining.

The event, named in reference to the town’s former sugar company, and which was offically launched last week, will take place in Tuam Stadium on Saturday August 23 from 1.30pm to 10.30pm.

As well as Damien Dempsey, the line-up features indie-rockers Raglans, whom actor Keith Allen (Lily Allen’s dad ) described as “an immensely powerful band”; singer-songwriter Mundy; Galway Americana band The Amazing Apples; and Dublin pop-rockers KeyWest.

Also playing are Newcastle’s The Happy Cats who mix soul, Irish, salsa, and rock’n’roll; and Tuam bands Strange Boats,  Them Again, Rir, and Authors and The Illustrators. There will be an on-site food and beverage village.
