Galway Community College has teamed up with local radio station, Galway Bay FM, to run a new radio and sound production course.
Running from September to May, the course is designed for students who want to pursue a career in radio production, on-air presenting, and journalism.
This full-time course offers an introduction to sound production and recording in Galway Community College's new digital recording studio, while students will also gain work experience with Galway Bay FM and GK Media.
Areas covered in the course include on-air presenting, engineering, recording, producing, research, event promotions, news reports, and podcasting.
Radio producer/presenter, Garry Kelly, who has more than eight years experience in both national and local radio, will coordinate the FETAC Level 5 course.
Principal of GCC, Brian Melia, says: "I'm very excited about this new course as students will get hands-on experience in a professional radio station and the inside knowledge to pursue their goals of working in radio. We've been planning this course for the past year, so to have Galway Bay FM come on board now as our official partners is really the icing on the cake."
