GMIT hosts art graduate exhibition

GMIT will be hosting its graduate art show in the Cluain Mhuire Centre for Creative Arts and Media, from Saturday May 31 until Saturday June 7.

The exhibition will feature works ranging from sculptures, paintings, prints, ceramics, and textiles, by the 60 full-time honours students in the college’s Art and Design programme, as well as work by the course’s 15 part-time students.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Ireland’s ambassador to Signapore, Geoffrey Keating, at 2.30pm.

There will also be a series of talks and tours by the students throughout the week for the public interested in purchasing any pieces on display.

Sarah Searson, head of the GMIT Centre for Creative Arts & Media, said: ‘‘The graduate art exhibition is an exciting opportunity to see contemporary new and emerging practices in visual arts. The students’ work addresses a range of interesting and engaging themes and influences.’’
