THE NOVELIST and singer Julian Gough will read from his latest book, Jude: Level 1, in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop next Tuesday at 6pm.
Julian will also sing some songs and will be joined on guitar by Declan Collins. Both were members of the great Galway band Toasted Heretic.
Julian grew up in Ireland and now lives in Berlin. His first novel, Juno & Juliet was published in 2001. Jude: Level 1 is published by Old Street Publishing. Levels 2 and 3, however, will be made available free on-line, episode by episode, before all three levels of Jude are published in one volume.
Jude: Level 1 will be broadcast as The Book On One on RTÉ Radio 1 at 11.45pm from Monday August 11 to Friday 15. It will be read by the Beckett actor Conor Lovett. Tommy Tiernan has described Jude as “perfect comedy…a cross between Flann O’Brien, Father Ted, and Morrissey. The best comic novel I’ve ever read.”
