Galway Toastmasters in speaking finals

Two Galway Toastmasters will contest the Britain and Irelandtoastmasters public speaking finals in Dun Laoghaire this weekend.

Ahascragh’s Siobhan Fitzgerald has the distinction of competing in both the international speech and evaluation finals at the King Laoire District 71 Conference.

A school principal, Ms Fitzgerald is representing Division F, which spans Letterkenny to Limerick.

The Ferbane native and a member of Athlone Toastmasters,Ms Fitzgerald joined Toastmasters 10 years ago.

Dunmore native, Christina Hession, is also competing in the evaluation finals.The current UK and Ireland Toastmaster of the Year, Ms Hession is representing Division C, a geographical area from North Dublin to Belfast.

Toastmasters International is a worldwidenon-profit educational organisation thatteachespublic speaking and leadership skills. There are over 7,000 members in the UK and Ireland with three clubs in Galway – two in Galway city. Galway Toastmasters meet in the Menlo Park Hotel,andCorrib Toastmasters meet in the Maldron Hotel, Oranmore. Tuam Toastmasters meet in the Ard Ri Hotel, Tuam.
