Popular Galway businesswoman Mary Bennett will give a talk next week on her experiences in business when she headlines the Network Galway annual open evening.
The event on Wednesday January 14 in the Bold Art Gallery at 6pm will hear the fascinating story of the proprietor of The Treasure Chest, who is known throughout the country as one of the west’s most progressive businesswomen.
Mary has held directorships of Ireland West Tourism, Bord Failte and Aer Lingus amongst others. Mary also sat on the former Irish Goods Council, and is a member of Business and Professional Network, a national organisation for women in business.
She was president of the Galway Chamber of Commerce from 1985 to 1986, and president of the Chambers of Commerce in Ireland in 1988.
She was elected President of World Skål and also first Lady President in 2002 and acted as an ambassador for both the Skål organisation and promoted Galway and Ireland on her international excursions during her year of responsibility.
President of Network Galway 2009 Áine Kilgallon said the group is very pleased that Mary Bennett will be guest speaker.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to network and kick off 2009 in style by joining us for some food and a glass of wine on the evening. The event is open to members and non – members alike”
”Network Galway was established in 1988, providing a forum for women in business, the professions and the arts to establish or increase contact at a business and social level. We assist and encourage women in the on-going development of their careers, in marketing their skills and expertise and we also liaise with complementary National organisations,” she said.
