THE PHENOMENON that is High School Musical is coming to the Royal Castlebar Theatre from Tuesday January 20 to Saturday 31 with a cast of 34 and all the songs from the movie - including two written especially for the stage.
High School Musical centres on Troy, the popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella, super- smart transfer student- who try to surf the tricky tides of peer pressure to follow their dream and score the leads in the big school show.
High School Musical, which began as a Disney Channel Original Movie, has been the most successful film Disney has made, attracting some 7.7 million viewers in its premiere broadcast in the US alone. The soundtrack also achieved huge success and climbed to the top of the Billboard charts in 2006.
The success of the musical has, however, surpassed that of the movie, with sell-out shows worldwide, a multi-platinum selling soundtrack, and a huge amount of High School Musical memorabilia being sold.
