A new footpath from the Roscam/Doughiska junction to the Galway Clinic needs to be constructed as a matter of urgency, according to one local election candidate.
Fianna Fáil Galway City East candidate Alan Cheevers who said the absence of a footpath or a cyclelane on the route is “a major safety issue for local residents”, as well employees of and visitors to the hospital.
“It is not acceptable that there isn’t proper accessibility for residents who may either want to walk or cycle to the clinic,” he said. “This area has a high traffic flow and it is unsafe and dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.”
Mr Cheevers is also calling for a pedestrian crossing to be constructed at the roundabout.
