A man who trespassed, broke three rear windows, and damaged a car at the house of an 81-year-old woman as well as targeting two other houses in the same area was granted bail last week.
Aurelijus Balaisis (27 ) with an address at Apartment 5, Teach Briota, Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit, was brought before Judge Mary Fahy at Galway District Court last Monday charged with three counts of trespassing at 57, 59, and 61 Wellpark Road on December 15, 2008.
Balaisis was also charged with the criminal damage of three rear windows, belonging to an 81-year-old woman, and the criminal damage of the driver’s side window and wing mirror of a car at 59 Wellpark Road.
The court heard that on a previous court sitting there had been an issue with the defendant’s identification and address. However, the matter had been resolved as gardai had received his passport.
The defendant was then remanded on his own bail of €2,500, one third to be lodged, with an independent surety of €500. He is due to appear in court again on February 2, 2009.
