Julie Feeney to judge Choirfactor 2014

JULIE FEENEY, the award winning, Athenry-born, vocalist and composer, will be among the judges at Galway’s Choirfactor competition.

Choirfactor 2014, a competition specifically for choirs, takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday April 12. Also judging will be Cois Cladaigh musical director Brendan O’Connor and music educator Maire Ní Dhuibhir.

Competing for the title will be the NUI Galway Singers, the GUH Choral Society (Galway University Hospital ), Galway Golf Club Salthill, The Medtronic Chorale, The Boston HP Party (Hewlett-Packard with Boston Scientific ), Avaya Voice, and Something to Sing About, whose members are cancer survivors.

The choirs are directed by Annemarie Taylor, Lisa Seary, Dympna O’Byrne, Pat Lillis, Seamus Leonard, Eoin Grealis, and Peter Mannion. The special guests will be last year’s winners, The Marine Institute Singers, directed by Carmel Dooley.

The event will raise funds for the SCCUL Sanctuary, Kilcuan, Clarinbridge.
