THE DUBLINERS Dilemma, based on James Joyce’s Dubliners, comes to the Town Hall Theatre on Wednesday April 2 at 8pm.
London 1914, publisher Grant Richards re-reads Joyce’s Dubliners manuscript, eight years after rejecting it over fears it might breach obscenity laws. As the streets of Dublin and the racy stories of Joyce’s youth spring to life, Richards relives his frustrating correspondence with the petulant Irish writer. Should he risk everything second time around and launch this volatile but brilliant genius on the world?
Adapted and performed by Declan Gorman and directed by Gerard Lee, this Bachelors Walk Production is accompanied by an audio-visual presentation, The Life of Joyce.
Declan Gorman’s performance has been hailed as “truly mesmerising” (Metro Herald ) and “compelling...animated and intelligent” (Irish Theatre Magazine ).
Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
