NUIG to host Irish premiere of David Greig play

THE IRISH premiere of The Monster In The Hall, by Scottish writer David Greig, will be staged as part of NUI Galway's inaugural theatre season.

Greig’s work will be known to many Galway theater goers as his The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Harte was performed as part of the Galway Arts Festival. The Monster In The Hall will run in the Nun’s Island Theatre from Monday March 24 to Thursday 27 at 8pm.

Duck Macatarsney cares for her biker dad, Duke, whose MS is getting increasingly bad. Duke, a spliff smoking, heavy metal, movie loving, pizza eating widower has brought up Duck since the death of her mother in a crash. The two of them are just about surviving when one morning the Duke wakes up blind and the Duck hears that the social services are coming to take her away.

Directed by Andrew Flynn, this performance features members of the NUIG BA connect in theatre and performance class.

Tickets are €10 and available at the door. The show is open to the public as well as students.
