The Galway based folk singer and producer Mary McPartlan has been selected as part of Culture Ireland’s delegation to attend the APAP Conference 2009 which will be held in New York.
The conference is an annual showcase of the best of international performing arts and is produced by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters in the US. It is the largest gathering of performing arts influencers, presenters, decision-makers, managers, and artists in the world and takes place at the prestigious Hilton Hotel, New York.
Ms McPartlan has been selected on the strength of her live performances. In addition, her latest CD release, Petticoat Loose has been the only Irish CD to feature in the British Top 10 Folk and Traditional albums of 2008. The CD has also been rated in British music magazine Mojo’s Top 10 Folk albums of 2008.
Ms McPartlan will travel to New York to perform live in the Irish Arts Centre, New York, on January 11 and 12. Accompanying her will be Galway singers Bernie O’Mahony and Mary Staunton and musician Aidan Brennan. They will be joined in New York by pianist Brendan Dolan
