Irish Water is being accused of causing “the unacceptable delay in replacing old iron water pipes in Oranmore” by a county councillor for the area.
Independent county councillor Jim Cuddy said the Galway County Council was prepared by December to prepare tenders for having these pipes replaced. However the process has been delayed as a result of Irish Water “having to evaluate the situation”.
“This is totally unacceptable,” Cllr Cuddy said. “It is simply duplicating work for the sake of it. This will result in further delays to the improvement of water quality for Oranmore.”
Cllr Cuddy said that for the last number of years there have been complaints regarding the discolouration of the water in Oranmore caused by the old iron pipes.
