McNelis concerned by state of Rosary Lane wall

A wall near Taylor’s Hill Road has fallen into “serious disrepair” and presents a “serious health risk” to schoolchildren and other pedestrians.

This is the view of Labour city councillor Niall McNelis, who has raised concerns about a wall which borders Rosary Lane off Taylor’s Hill and the grounds of St Anne’s.

According to Cllr McNelis, part of the wall is “coming on to the road” and he is concerned that with the recent high winds, any further extreme weather could result in further damage.

“I have raised these concerns with senior engineers in City Hall,” he said, “as 428 children go to national school and 658 go to secondary school at Taylor’s Hill.”

Cllr McNelis is also calling for a traffic plan to be “prepared urgently for dropping off and collecting children”. He said it may “involve the removal of a very large tree in an island at centre of Rosary Lane”.
