GAA Shorts

•The Galway Ladies are up and running this year in preparation for the forthcoming National League with hopes of promotion to division one. The ladies resumed training under manager Barry Downey after the Christmas break in preparation for the first game away to Kildare early next month. The Galway Ladies Football AGM takes place on Tuesday January 28 at 8pm. Venue to be confirmed.

•Fr Griffin’s Éire Óg GAA Club is holding a general meeting for its juvenile section on Sunday January 19 at 6pm in the Menlo Park Hotel.

Parents and adult volunteers are welcome to attend. The club caters for Gaelic Football in the Claddagh, Woodquay, city centre, Terryland, Ballinfoyle, Castlegar and Menlo areas. Details are available on the club’s Facebook page or froπm Thomas Cox 086-8286363.

•A hurling development seminar to be facilitated by Sean Silke will take place on Saturday at 6pm in the Rahoon Newcastle Hurling Clubhouse in Tonabrucky. All club members are asked to attend.

Prior to the hurling seminar, the club registration take place at 5.30pm. Membership rates are €50 for all single membership (16 years + ) and €100 for all family membership.

• Noel Gilmore has been elected chairman of the Claregalway GAA ladies’ section.
