The Tuam Lions Club will hold a Christmas Food Fair on Wednesday, December 4 at Palace Restaurant, Supervalu, in Tuam to raise funds for the Care for Shane Fund.
In August 2012, 24-year-old Shane Grogan from Tuam received a serious brain injury and has spent the past 15 months in hospital, three of which were in The National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire. Shane is currently at UHG where he receives 24 hour nursing care. The Care for Shane Fund was set up to raise money to help his family bring him home and provide for his needs.
The Christmas Food Fair, which is being supported by Tuam Lions Club and O’Toole’s SuperValu, will take place between 7pm and 10pm.
The food fair will showcase the best local producers and provide visitors with not only a full stomach but also plenty of ideas. Palace Restaurant chefs Wayne Maloney and Angela McQuillan will be showing how to make goodies like turkey and ham pie and Christmas pudding ice-cream. There will also be a Generation-Game style cupcake challenge as well as a wine talk as it is always good to get some advice on what to serve with the turkey.
Visitors will get to taste lots of samples and there will be mulled wine to help get into the Christmas spirit. There will also be spot prizes on the night including hampers and a weekend at the Glasshouse in Sligo.
