Works to start on Maree Road next week

The long-awaited road works on the Maree Road, Oranmore, which will cost more than €250,000, will start next week.

The road improvement works, which have been promised for a number of years, are due to be completed before the end of January 2014.

The news has been welcomed by Independent county councillor Jim Cuddy who said it will improve safety for motorists, especially for residents of the Oranhill Estate who use the road on a daily basis.

However he said there were still concerns for residents along this road. Meetings have taken place between Galway County Council engineers, representatives of the boys’ school, local councillors, and the parish priest with a view to providing a pedestrian crossing outside the school.
