Those who love to sing and have a spare hour on a Sunday afternoon are invited to take part in an event to raise funds for local charities.
Well known local musician and singer Keara Shearan is looking for 200 singers to join her this December in performing ‘The Gift’; an hour long interpretation of the Nativity sung in a lively Gospel style.
Packed with joyful, poetic, and soulful songs, ‘The Gift’ will be performed in the Jesuit Church, Sea Road, on three consecutive nights from Friday December 20 to Sunday December 22. A gift in deed as well as in name, the proceeds from the three concerts will benefit three local charities: Western Alzheimers, JIGSAW Galway, and the Galway Simon Community.
Rehearsals start next week
Rehearsals for ‘The Gift’ will commence on Sunday October 13 at 2.30pm in the Jesuit Church and Ms Shearan is encouraging everyone from eight years up with a ‘note in their head’ to get involved.
“My goal is to bring together people of all ages and from all walks of life to sing, have fun, and raise money for Galway charities,” says Keara who has raised more than €40,000 for local charities over the past four years from these concerts.
“The beauty of ‘The Gift’ is that everyone who gets involved either as a singer or as a member of the audience gets something from it. This series of concerts really lends itself to people who like getting out in the evenings and doing something that gives something back to those most in need.”
