PHILL JUPITUS is talking over Galway for the October Bank Holiday weekend as there will be no fewer than five chances to see him during the Bulmer’s Galway Comedy Festival.
Phill will perform stand-up on a bill that also includes Russell Howard (BBC3’s Russell Howard’s Good News ), Lee Mack, Mike Wilmot, and Eric Lawlor in the Seapoint Ballroom (Wednesday October 23, 8pm ).
Phill and Lee Mack will take to the stage of the Róisín Dubh with John Colleary (Thursday October 24, 8pm ); Phill then supports Police Academy’s human sound effects machine Michael Winslow, alongside Jason Byrne and Eddie Brill in the Radisson Live Lounge (Friday October 25 ).
Phill has two solo shows of his own for the festival as well, both on Friday October 25. First off is You’re Probably Wondering Why I’ve Asked You Here... in The Ruby Room of The King’s Head at 1pm, followed at 3.30pm by a show in the Kai Restaurant, Sea Road, where he will be in the guise of his alter ego, Porky The Poet, reading from his various, hilarious, verse, inspired by John Cooper Clarke, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and the ‘ranting poetry’ movement.
