Financial Solutions Skillnet (FSS ) has been awarded €136,500 to continue its subsidised training programme in 2009. The network of more than 60 members offers tailored training courses and networking events to financial services companies and the banking sector.
“We are delighted that our funding application has been approved for next year”, said Nuala Martyn, network manager of Financial Solutions Skillnet. “We had a very busy year in 2008 and network members were really happy that we could bring more than 50 tailored training courses to their doorstep at affordable prices.
“Financial Solutions Skillnet is subsidised by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and we can offer members up to 60 per cent funding for their training needs. This translates into full and half-day courses with Ireland’s leading trainers such as Dermot McConkey, Evelyn Hanrahan, and Orla Conneely for as little as €75 per day.
“At a difficult time like this, specialised training can help boost optimism, activity levels and business, and our members find that the networking opportunities are also invaluable,” added Ms Martyn.
Financial Solutions Skillnet will launch a comprehensive training schedule in January 2009 and the range of courses will be determined by the needs of the network members.
“A lot of our members are small brokers so we keep membership fees low to make it easy for them to join. For example, sole traders will pay just €120 to become members and for those who sign up pre-Christmas, we are offering a 20 per cent discount, said Ms Martyn.
“A real draw for members is the fact that a number of our courses offer CPD accreditation and in 2009 we also hope to offer members the chance to obtain qualified financial advisor (QFA ) qualifications,” she concluded.
