Socialist day school in Galway

The Socialist Circle Day School will take place in Galway next week, addressing issues of austerity, the environment, world politics, and history.

The day school will take place on Saturday September 14 in the Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square from 11am to 5pm.

NUI Maynooth’s Sinead Kennedy will open the event with a lecture entitled Global Crisis & Global Uprisings (11am to 12.15pm ); contemporary events and the 1913 Lockout will be examined in 1913 Lockout to 2013 Sellout by John Lyons, Campaign Against Household & Water Taxes (12.30pm to 1.45pm ).

Hugh Lewis, a People Before Profit councillor will give a Natural Resources Workshop (2.15pm to 3.30pm ); Socialist Worker’s Party member Madeleine Johansson will give a short talk entitled Do We Need a Revolutionary Party (3.45pm to 4pm ).

The event will conclude with be BEWARE- Austerity Budget Ahead! which will feature a panel of speakers from Galway Coalition Against Cuts.
