Oliver Callan @ Róisín Dubh

Comedy satirist and mimic Oliver Callan is coming to Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 8pm.

The Monaghan comedian, who has his own radio show entitled Callan's Kicks on Fridays on RTE Radio One, was the creator of Nob Nation, the award-winning sketch series that came to prominence on The Gerry Ryan Show and Tubridy on RTE 2FM.

The controversial mimic returns with a brand new show, satirising the hot topics of Irish politics, sports, and entertainment.

Callan’s Kicks features a new array of characters from Katie Taylor to Rory McIlroy and Alan Shatter to Liam Neeson, as well as old favourites Taoiseach Enda, President Michael ‘twee’ Higgins, and his “vice-president” David Norris. Other targets include GAA fashionista Paul Galvin, Ireland football star Robbie Keane, and RTE stars from Pat Kenny to Marian Finucane, who will all get the Callan treatment in the topical and biting live show on Saturday at 8pm.

“It’s an incredible time to be in Ireland,” he says. “There is such a rage among the public but we never take to the streets and riot; we simply poke fun at it and laugh our way through the anger. If you are one of those people who are sick of politicians and hypocrisy, then I think my show is the therapy you need.”

Callan’s routines are never far away from controversy, having raised the ire of politicians, sports stars, and media celebrities alike in recent years.

Callan is a former journalist who has produced four hit albums and sold out the Olympia Theatre for previous live shows.

Tickets are on sale now at the price of €15 from OMG (Zhivago ) on Shop Street, the Róisín Dubh, and www.roisindubh.net
