This evening, Monroe’s Live goes underground as it presents some of the best up-and-coming indie bands in the country with The Underground Sound.
The Underground Sound is a free night dedicated to promoting some of the rich musical talent Ireland has to offer.
Among the acts playing this month are Cotton Ball Three, a local band that plays an intriguing melting pot of sounds, touching on funk, blues, jazz, and rock. This four-piece put a strong emphasis on originality, so much so that they often improvise and play songs that did not even exist before the show started.
Sharing the bill with Cotton Ball Three will be Darken the Distance. Another Galway band, this five-piece play harmony-laden, original, alternative, rock. Their sound alternates between wig-out guitar riffage and a bigger, stadium rock, sound, epitomised by Barry Power’s melodic vocal and Miguel Madureira’s atmospheric keys.
Doors for The Underground Sound open at 10pm and admission is free. To become a Monroe’s Live member and get access to exclusive offers, priority tickets and more, download the new Monroe’s Live app, available now, for free, from the Android and Apple stores. For more information, see www.monroes.ie
