Close to 700 runners took to the pathways of Renville Park on Wednesday night last to compete in the third annual Renville Park 5K, with all proceeds from the event going to local charity ACT for Meningitis.
The charity aims to raise awareness of Meningitis while also supporting families and individuals affected.
With a mixed running field, it was local runner Jason Broderick from Craughwell AC who crossed the line first in a time of 16:39 whilst Alvy Carragher was the first female home in a time of 18:47. “ We were delighted with the massive turn out again this year. It is so encourgaing to see so many people out running and walking whilst supporting this worthy cause,” said race organiser Linda Burke, managing director of Level One. “This event would not be possible without all our amazing volunteers and sponsors, so to thank everyone who helped out from registration to collecting water bottles.”
