Galway children’s author and illustrator Derek Mulveen will headline the literary corner at this year’s Milwaukee Irish Fest next month.
Derek Mulveen and his wife Michelle Melville launched their first children’s book, Oisín the Brave — Moon Adventure, earlier this year. The book is the first of six which follow the adventures of Oisín and his sidekick, Orane the Dragon of N’Scaul.
Studying the night sky, Oisín notices a strange flashing light coming from what appears to be the surface of the moon. Before long he and Orane power up their magical Dolmen of Time and are off to discover the cause.
The book is written for children aged two to seven and incorporates a nicely illustrated Irish lesson, with the names for animals, shapes, colours, and emotions.
This year’s Milwaukee Irish Fest will take place from Thursday August 15 to Sunday August 18.
