New traffic control measures for Newcastle

New traffic control measures have been implemented in Fairlands Park and Greenfields estates of Newcastle by the Galway City Council.

The measures have been introduced to discourage university students from using the estates as parking areas in order to not pay a park and ride levy at the parking facility on the NUI Galway campus.

According to Labour city councillor Billy Cameron, “irresponsible parking by students”, has prevented refuse trucks, oil deliveries, fire brigade, and ambulances from accessing Greenfields.
