BELFAST’S NOT Squares and Dublin’s Kid Karate, two of Ireland’s most exciting indie bands, play the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 9pm.
Not Squares mix synth, bass, and drums into a thrilling style that fuses dance/techno, with pummelling punk/indie-rock, as heard on their impressive 2010 debut Yeah OK.
“Think Animal Collective gone mad‘n’bad,” said God Is In The TV while Loud and Quiet praised their “relentless trance synths and electronic thumps”.
Kid Karate - Kevin Breen (guitar/synth/vocals ) and Steven Gannon (drums/percussion ) -are a band bringing the blues into indie rock. Although they owe a debt to The Black Keys, there is a power, energy, and riffage to the band which is all their own. Checkout their music on Bandcamp.
Admission is €5 but is free for members.
