A 26-year-old man charged with assaulting a woman, threatening to kill or cause serious harm, and harassing her on a number of occasions including at a hospital, has been sent forward for trial.
Damien Tuczynski with an address at 1 Cuirt Eglish, Ballybane, Galway, appeared before Galway Distict Court on Monday charged with making a threat to a woman, intending that she believe it would be carried out, to kill or cause serious harm, contrary to Section 5 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997, at Gort Lein, Old Monivea Road on August 12, 2012; at the accident and emergency department, University Hospital Galway, on September 11, 2012; and again at Boston Scientific, Parkmore, on September 5 and 28, 2012.
Tuczynski is also charged with harassing the same woman at Gort Lein, Old Monivea Road, at Boston Scientific, and at the accident and emergency department, University Hospital Galway, on dates between August 12, 2012, and November 11, 2012, and with assaulting the woman causing her harm at Gort Lein on May 19, 2012, contrary to Section 10(1 ) and (6 ) and Section 3 respectively of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
Garda Neal O’Brien gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused. Inspector Brendan Carroll then informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to Tuczynski being sent forward for trial to the Galway Circuit Criminal Court sittings commencing July 2 next.
He was also remanded on continuing bail in relation to a summary charge of assault, contrary to Section 2 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, to Galway District Court on October 14.
