Bail for man accused of dangerous driving

A 31-year-old man has appeared before the court this week charged with a number of road traffic offences including dangerous driving causing bodily harm to another at Barna Road last December.

At Galway District Court on Monday, Garda Martina Conneely gave evidence of charging Marius Strelciunas with an address 132 Manor Court, Knocknacarra, in relation to six charges to which he gave no reply.

Strelciunas is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm to Alex Dainty, contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act, at Barna Road on December 23, 2012. He was also charged with driving without insurance or a driving licence, failure to produce those documents, and driving with no road tax paid.

Inspector Mick Coppinger told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the matter proceeding on indictment.

Judge Mary Fahy extended bail to the new charge sheets with the condition that Strelciunas signs on Monday and Friday between 9am and 9pm at Salthill Garda Station.
