Michael Nyqvist, the Swedish actor who played Stieg Larsson’s journalist/detective Mikael Blomkvist in the Millennium Trilogy film adaptations, is to star in a new TV series created by Ken Bruen.
Galwegian Ken Bruen, one of Ireland’s leading crime writers who has won numerous awards for his work, has created a new 12 part crime thriller series for Swedish television. The series is due to start filming in June with Michael Nyqvist, and will be produced by Bobby Moresco who co-produced Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby.
This is a major coup for the Galwayman given that Sweden has been responsible for producing some of the best modern crime fiction writers - Hennig Mankell, Arne Dahl, and the late Stieg Larsson - while the Swedish TV series Arne Dahl on BBC4 is compulsive viewing for crime fans.
