Natty Wailer @ Monroe’s tonight

NATTY WAILER, the Jamaican reggae singer-songwriter, along with his band The Reggae Vibes, plays Monroe’s Live tonight from 11pm.

Since the late 1970s, Natty has been working as a musician, having recorded with and played on albums by The Wailers’ Aston ‘familyman’ Barrett, King Tubby, Lord Tanamo, Barry Brown, I Roy, Johnny Clarke, and Uniques. His close friendship with Barrett also led him into the ‘inner circle’ of Bob Marley and The Wailers.

In concert Natty performs his own material and songs by Marley. Now resident in Ireland, he feels Irish audiences have a unique connection with reggae.

“I find such an open-mindedness,” he said. “The response and honour I get from the audiences in Ireland, I just can’t leave, I just keep wanting to do more and more!”

Support is from The Tectonics. Will Softly will DJ afterwards. Tickets are €10 and available on the door or through www.monroes.ie and 091 - 583397.
