Best of the west in women’s cup final

Castlebar Celtic have reached the final of the WFAI Cup.

It is a huge achievement for the club that lost its manager and mentor Jeremy Dee during the year when he was tragically killed in a car crash on his way to a match.

Always his ambition to have a club representing the West and playing at the highest level in women’s soccer, the club is now just one game away from realising his long cherished dream,

They now meet Peamount, runners-up in this year’s premier league, in the final in Milebush in Castlebar on Sunday at 3pm.

Castlebar Celtic have strong representation from Sligo/Leitrim, Mayo, and Galway. Among the strong Galway contingent are Shauna Fox, Shaunagh Jackson, Jenny Byrne, Teresa Fahey, Rachel King, Laura Carroll, Tricia Moran, Aishling Hughes, Lucy Hannon, Lisa Casserly, and Marion Murray. The manager and coach is Johnny Morris Burke.
