Two Galway teams claimed All Ireland titles in the u-14/ and u-16 club championships held in Galway, Cork, Dublin and Dundalk.
Galway was represented by five teams with Moycullen winning the division three u-14 girls and ninth overall, and the division two u-16 boys, finishing fifth overall. Laura Corcoran and Josh Marvesley were awarded the Most Valuable Player awards.
Maree, in the division one in both the u-14 boys and u-16 boys, finished fourth overall in both competitions, while Moycullen u-16 girls finished seventh overall.
The Galway Juvenile Area Board were hosts to the highly competitive u-16 boys’ competition in Claregalway and Oranmore where a young Maree topped their group to meet the much-favoured Kubs from Dublin in the sem-final. While Kubs won the match, Maree went on to play Fr Matthews of Cork to claim fourth place overall in division one.
Moycullen, having won their first game convincingly against Castlebar Comets, lost to the talented Fr Mathews of Cork in an exciting game which saw them come from 20 points down to within six points. However Moycullen went on to take the division two title with victories over Belfast Star and St Brendan’s of Tralee.
