Brigit’s Day celebrations at Brigit’s Garden

Brigit’s Garden in Roscahill, Co. Galway, are holding a family event to celebrate St Brigit’s Day this Sunday, February 3 from 2-5.30pm.

‘Lá Fhéile Bríde is a special time for us at Brigit’s Garden,’ says Project Director Jenny Beale. ‘It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages to get together and enjoy some of the lovely Brigit traditions such as weaving Brigit’s crosses from rushes picked in the gardens.’

The crosses were traditionally hung in the house for protection, and participants on Sunday can make their own crosses to take home. There will also be live music from Paul Bradley and friends, and story-telling and kids’ activities in the thatched Roundhouse.

This weekend also marks the re-opening of the unique Celtic gardens at Brigit’s Garden, which will be open daily until October.

No booking is required for the Brigit event. Admission is €7 for adults, €20 for a family of five and €6 for seniors. The Garden Café will also be open. Brigit’s Garden is a not-for-profit educational charity and all proceeds go to support the project. For further information phone 091 550905 or see www.brigitsgarden.ie
