A Vibe For Philo @ Monroe’s Live

SONGWRITER, SINGER, poet, bass player, band leader, Black Irishman, icon - Phil Lynott is all of these things and Galway will pay tribute to the late master this week.

To mark the 27th anniversary of Lynott’s tragic death from drug abuse, and to celebrate his life and music, the annual A Vibe For Philo takes place in Monroe’s Live tomorrow at 9pm.

The night will feature a full live band playing classic Lizzy songs such as ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’, ‘Emerald’, and ‘Don’t Believe A Word’.

Thin Lizzy’s influence on rock music has been enormous, with heavy rock and metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Guns’n’Roses, and Def Leppard citing the Irish band as an inspiration. More recently Lizzy’s influence has become felt within indie music, especially on Belle and Sebastian and Fang Island.

Tickets are €15/13.50 and are available on the door or through www.monroes.ie and 091 - 583397.
