Fahey stars in final

Galway’s Niamh Fahey, who plays for Arsensal Ladies, has added another title to her impressive CV.

The Killanin native returned to Ireland last weekend to star for Parnells of London in the All Ireland Intermediate Club Football final of 2012 against Cahir of Tipperary in Kildare, and the London club became the first from outside Ireland to win the title.

Fahey, who lined out for Parnells in the middle of the field, scored one of her side’s two goals in their 2-14 to 1-2 win over the Tipperary side.

Fahey was also instrumental in her side’s semi-final win when she came up against Kilkerrin/Clonberne and former Galway clubmate Annette Clarke. The two sides could not be separated in their first meeting as they were still level after two periods of extra time, but the London team ground out a narrow victory in the replay winning by 3-11 to 2-8.
