Titans in rampant form

Titans basketball continued their assault on the National League with a comfortable 93-56 win over Ballon on Saturday.

The two outfits last met in the last season’s National League final which Ballon won, but the Dubliners’ entry in this year’s Superleague left a young side facing an in-form Galway team on Saturday.

Argentinian Lautauro Fabricius controlled the game from start to finish, hitting eight points, while Paulius Pelzius (16 ) and Andre Tongo (24 ) were unstoppable on the offensive end to take a 28-15 lead.

With some fine outside shooting from Brendan Barile (14pts ), the rampant Galwegians introduced some of their bench players as they led 46-25 at half time.

Brendan Barile and Conal Mc Michael (10pts ) distributed the ball well, while Taofik Mustaffa also added eight points. The final quarter was All Titans with u-20 Tomz chipping in with six points, Seamus Garrity had two and Lautoro scored six points, grabbed 15 steals and nailed a big three on the buzzer for a 37-point victory.

Saturday sees Titans take on Star of Belfast in the third round of the u-20 National Cup.
