Sharon Shannon - back to basics @ Róisín Dubh

FOR YEARS she has entertained and impressed audiences with big band, her four piece group, and orchestra, but now Sharon Shannon is going ‘back to basics’.

It is easy to forget that Sharon began her career in the 1980s playing solo accordion, fiddle and whistle with one accompanist. To round off 2012, the Clare musician is going back to that format for her Back 2 Basics tour, which takes in the Róisín Dubh on Sunday November 11 at 8pm.

Sharon will perform music from her back catalogue as well adaptations of scores from her new album Flying Circus recorded with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. The show should be well worth catching, for as the Sydney Morning Herald said: “Shannon extracted a gorgeous tone from her little button accordion and deployed extraordinary deftness ... spreading joy with every note.”

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
