A LONG time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, an epic intergalactic battle between good and evil took place, and at its centre was a father who needed to be helped to redemption by his son.
For millions (myself included ) Star Wars is not just a film it is the stuff of childhood and adulthood, collectors’-item mania, an epic-myth for modern times, a state of mind, a way of life.
One such fan has turned his love of George Lucas’ original trilogy (Parts IV to VI in other words ) into a one hour stage show that has won over audiences and critics across the world.
One-Man Star Wars™ Trilogy, written and performed by Canadian actor Charles Ross, takes to the stage of the Black Box Theatre on Tuesday October 23 at 8pm, as part of its Irish tour.
The show will see Ross single-handedly play all the characters, sing the music, fly the ships, fight the battles, and condenses the plots into just 60 minutes.
The Independent declared it “a delight for fans” with “enough here to satisfy casual observers too”; The Daily Telegraph called it “a joy...quite brilliant”; while Three Weeks Edinburgh said: “A splendid performance – I only wish he’d do all six [films]”.
