The Midnight Masquerade themed ball will be held on Thursday November 1 as part of the fundraising efforts at the Brothers of Charity services in Galway. The Galway Bay Hotel has been selected to host the event and the concept of the evening is that attendants arrive bedecked in a mysterious or bewitching masque.
A great evening’s entertainment awaits, including a four-course meal, swag bags, a raffle, and a best dressed contest. Tickets are available at the Galway Bay Hotel or at the Brothers of Charity offices at Woodlands Centre, Dublin Road, Renmore.
City of Galway Mayor Terry Flaherty will appear at the ball and there will be a spot prize winner of a €1,000 voucher compliments of EZ Living. The lucky winner in the best dressed lady category will be the recipient of a €500 voucher for Born Clothing while the Best Dressed Man will receive a voucher for DC/Origin. Even if you are unlucky in the best dressed competition, you can still enjoy the concessional rates offered to those who produce a ticket for the ball at Martin Feeney’s formal wear store.
The Brothers of Charity services currently facilitates approximately 1000 people with intellectual disabilities and the organisation also supports the family members of its clientele. Bridget McDonald from the Brothers of Charity says: “Our goal is to support people to be valued citizens in their own communities, to be closely connected to family and friends, and to make choices about their lives. Our community services are located right across County Galway, where the people using our services live in ordinary houses and do ordinary things with varying levels of support depending on their abilities and their needs. We support children in mainstream preschools and schools and in a number of specialist child development centres and special schools.”
In the past four years the Brothers of Charity services has suffered a funding cut of more than €8 million. This means that maintaining these services will prove problematic, particularly when trying to support a child nearing school leaving age when his/her needs become more specialised. Your support and donations will go towards making a difference in the patients who depend on the Brothers of Charity services.
