THE GALWAY Jazz Festival returns from Tuesday October 9 to Sunday 14 for its eighth year, with an expanded programme which includes Irish-French trio Pinto.
Pinto - Sean Carpio (drums ), Simon Jermyn (electric bass ), and Robin Fincker (tenor saxophone/clarinet ) - combines left-field pop, jazz, and noisecore ballads, with a view to fully exploring the potential of the trio format.
Improvising around lively, energetic, hooks or meditating on sweet melodies, they weave effortlessly from one style to another for a listening experience that is exciting and unpredictable. See Pinto on Friday October 12 at Druid Theatre at 8pm.
Also performing at the festival will be The Tommy Halferty Trio featuring John Ruocco, Softday, OKO, Lakker, Tin Pan Alley, Éirú, The Youth Band & Greg Felton, The Danny Healy Group, The Plaza Piano Quartet with special guest Barbara Vulso, Cois Cladaigh & Carl Hession Trio, and The Paul O’Driscoll Trio.
Shows will be held in An Taibhdhearc, Druid Theatre, The Black Cat in Salthill, the Meyrick Hotel, The Electric Garden, various schools in the city and county, as well as public spaces around the city.
Tickets are now on sale and range in price from €5 to €15 with some shows free of charge. Tickets available from the above venues, online at www.GalwayJazzFest.com, and through the Town Hall Theatre on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
