Strange Brew’s 500th Night

STRANGE BREW, the Róisín Dubh’s celebration of all things indie, Irish, and up and coming, will celebrate its 500th night with a line up of some of the finest emerging bands in Ireland.

Headlining are the mighty Tieranniesaur. Led by singer-guitarist-keyboard player Annie Tierney, the band mix disco, funk, and indie-pop to thrilling effect. Check out their eponymous debut album on Bandcamp.

Also playing is singer-songwriter Elaine Mai. She uses loop pedals and effects to make her solo acoustic guitar work and superb vocals sound like a full band and choir. Check out her debut EP Dots on Strange Brew Rekkids.

The Last Days of 1984, are a Dublin duo who fuse elements of surf-pop, Afrobeat, dance, electronica, and 1980s childhood movie soundtracks. Kid Karate are a two-piece grime-punk band from Dublin. Their sound is gritty, raw, and brutal, taking inspiration from The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone Age.

Dott, led by songwriter Anna McCarthy, play an exciting and infectious infusion of indie-pop and garage rock. Expect sweet melodies and vocal harmonies. Check out their debut EP Buttons on Bandcamp.

The Depravations are an indie-folk, pop, dance, rock, and surf band from Galway. Rural Savage are based in Galway but feature two Donegal men and a Corkonian. Their songs are furious blasts of energy, keeping the spirit of classic Ulster punk alive.

Sleep Thieves, according to Hot Press, combine “eccentric indie” and synth-pop “with all the bleeps, beats and beery attitude you'd expect from such an uneasy marriage”

So Cow, led by singer-guitarist Brian Kelly, play quirky, clever, and catchy songs that are part punk, part indie-pop, part garage rock, and always brilliant.

Also playing are indie-pop band We Are Losers and It Was All A Little Black & White.

The Strange Brew 500th Night starts at 8pm on Thursday October 4 and admission is free.
