Revised date for annual Loughrea run

Loughrea Athletic Club holds its annual Grey Lake 10k Road Race on Sunday.

The race was due to take place on September 30, but has been brought forward due to the clash with the All Ireland hurling replay.

Starting near the tennis club on the Gort Road and finishing near St Brendan’s Cathedral on Barrack Street, the route comprises a lap of the famous Grey Lake.

Organiser Loughrea AC is hoping for a strong turnout again for this year’s race, helped by the neighbouring clubs as well as the many locals who decide to take on the challenge of this famous lap.

The day has something for all the family with more than 500 children taking part in the junior fun run which sees children of all ages running the 1km route through the streets of Loughrea. The Temperance Hall on Barrack St will be the race day headquarters:

The junior race starts at 1pm with the senior race under way at 1.30pm and entries will be taken on the day. The race is AAI approved and chip timing will be in operation.

Those interested can enter online for the senior event @ www.runireland.com or for more information log onto www.loughreaathleticclub.com
