Mike Clarkson followed up his doubles and mixed successes at the Irish Open by retaining his GLTC title in a repeat of last year’s final with a 6-2 6-3 victory over Mark Smyth.
The junior player stymied Smyth’s efforts to repeat his 2009 feat of a title treble, but the No 2 seed went on to claim the doubles and mixed titles, partnered respectively by Al Waterson ( 3&2 v Fiachra O’Dubhailland Dermot Flatley ) and Claire Kenny (7-5 4-6 10-4 v Maria Raftery and Dermot Flatley ).
Kate Hennessy retained her singles crown, defeating fellow junior Aoife Doyle by the same score in what must be the youngest quartet of finalists in the history of GLTC.
Hugo Kelly beat Tim Pollard 6-1 6-3 in the B singles final, while Ber Keane and Claire Kenny continued to add to their title collection with a nail-biting 7-6 3-6 10-4 victory over Roisin Walsh and Grainne Coll.
In the men’s B doubles Louis Gallagher and Micheal O Morain saw off the challenge of Brendan Daly and Raphael McCarron, whil Phil O’Reilly and Gerry Doyle saw off the spirited challenge of Pat Folan and Tadgh O Conghaile by 6-4 6-4 in the B mixed final.
