Merrigan faces Frenchman in superfight

Four IKF All Ireland title fights and an International super prestige K-1 Superfight will be the highlights of a full evening's kickboxing in the Black Box Theatre on Saturday.

Promoted by the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Club, the full contact kickboxing and K-1 tournament will feature Oughterard 's double Irish champion Bryan "Mayhem" Merrigan in action against Michael Gerard from Toulouse in France under K-1 rules. The fight will be decided over 3x3 minute rounds with a fourth round added in the event of a draw.

Charlie "The Iceman" Ward from Ballybane will take on tough Dubliner Eric Nolan for the recently vacated IKF All Ireland super welterweight title, while Shane Creaven from Turloughmore will fight Dublin's Keith Shelly for the vacant IKF All Ireland light heavyweight title.

Amy "The Animal" Charles/Wilson from Riverside (now living in Ramelton ) takes on Gillian Duffy from Dublin for the recently vacated IKF All Ireland ladies' light welterweight title and Paul "Hurricane" Huish from Knocknacarra will challenge the IKF welterweight champion Evan Walker from Dublin for his title.

There will be several undercard bouts under various rule styles. Doors open to the public at 6.15pm with the first fight scheduled for 7pm sharp.

Tickets are available from The Town Hall Theatre, Sally Longs Bar, Black Dragon Gym, the fighters or indeed at the door.
